Squaring away

Mike and I both woke early, and got right into boat chores. We re-installed the jib sail and gave Odyssey a good scrubbing from stem to stern. Next, we installed the sail cover that I had repaired and modified while at home. This cover required us to install it along with the mainsail on the boom. Four times. Don't ask :). By the time that task was finally finished, we were both sweating profusely. A break was called for, so we cleaned up a bit and then had a feast at a nearby place, Rancho Viejo, which is one of my favorites.
Upon returning to the boat, we continued squaring things away. I think we finally conquered the awful smells coming from the freezer. Vinegar is your friend aboard a boat. I assembled a gadget called a dive sled, which I had made while stuck at home. This device is really just a board with handles, which is towed slowly behind the dinghy, with a snorkeler hanging on. By tilting the board, the diver can move up and down, as well as side to side, while flying over the ocean floor. At least that is the theory, I have yet to,try it, but plan to use it this trip.
We are making ice now, and the freezer appears to be working again. The fridge is okay, but not frosty. I may have to have somebody look at them both. Good refrigeration is very important down here in sunny Mexico. We had dinner at Bandidos, then played cards until going to bed. I feel like I am starting to get sick, which would really suck. I'll see how I feel in the morning.
