Bill, warm

11/13/14
After a quiet night, the morning broke crystal clear, with not a cloud in the sky. Mike and I went to breakfast, and then walked to the giant supermarket to provision for our travels. I have a sore throat and feel kind of run down. Hopefully, I will shake this off soon. We still have a few loose ends to tie up before heading out, so we will probably leave tomorrow morning.
Well, when we tried to start the main engine this afternoon, it would not turn over. Troubleshooting eventually showed that the main house battery bank (six 6 volt golf cart batteries), was shot and in need of replacement. I was able to purchase new batteries, which were delivered to the boat soon after. FYI, each battery weighs over 60 pounds. With new batteries installed, not without issues, I assure you, the engine would now start. Yea!
With that problem solved, a new one presented itself; the water pump is frozen. We will see if we can free the shaft tomorrow.
Because Odyssey has been virtually trouble-free for the last couple of years, we were due for some problems. Hopefully, these will be the only ones for this trip.
While wrestling with the batteries, a old friend, Greg, aboard Scout, pulled into the slip next door. Mike and I joined Greg and his crew for dinner after cleaning up.
