DAY 28 Santander
12 July 2015

Yesterday, as we left Bilbao, it was overcast and trying its best to rain, but after a few hours at sea the sun came out and it was hot hot hot ! Patience seemed to glide over the waves effortlessly. We had a glorious sail past the cliffs of northern spain, some covered in forests others with craggy rock faces.
We put the auto helm on and sat on the bow together to try to spot some wildlife. No jelly fish today but loads of crabs desperately trying to stay upright in the current. An array of different birds floated on the surface of the now clear blue water, as others dive bombed for fish , or maybe they were after the crabs?
Then, as if the day couldn't possibly get any better, it did. We found the
anchorage spot that Ricky had read about on the iPad and thanks to our practice at Osborne bay with Daryl and Cindy, we set the anchor perfectly and dived off the back of the boat for a swim .
We resisted the temptation to grab brushes and clean sides and bum of boat and just enjoyed the moment in the cool water.
During the night the water stayed still until the tide turned, when we rocked a tad, but not enough to make either of us feel queazy.
Then this morning - wow, waking up to to the freedom of being at anchor feels amazing, even though we are only 2 miles from the marina and a swim from the two beautiful sandy beaches we are anchored between . Oh, did I forget to mention them ? How remiss of me, I guess the whole experience is just so awesome that it has gone to my head! Pinch me - am I dreaming ? Ricky is, as there is a contingent of gorgeous nubile French girl windsurfers practicing metres from the boat !!
