DAY 94 - Altea

16 September 2015
We are sitting in a beautiful yacht club marina in Altea, just eaten seafood paella and taking advantage of the free wifi , but oh Lordy what a couple of days we've had. We arrived from Puerto De Les Dunas, but it was so horrid that I decided not to dedicate a whole blog entry to it as it would be a list of moans and I fear I would come over as a very spoilt brat ! So, just a couple of lines will suffice.

Marina looked rustic in the book, just up a river, on the edge of sand dunes and an unspoilt beach. Rustic was a really polite way of saying , very sadly 'run down.' Shower block was nice (ish) .
We were squidged so tightly between two other yachts that , had they been occupied we'd have heard our neighbours snore.Looking on the bright side , having spied a huge pile of bamboo straw at the end of the pontoon , we thought - Ok rural ! We can do rural, then we spied the discs on our neighbours ropes, uh uh discs to prevent vermin climbing your ropes and coming aboard. I began to itch and was a tad freaked I have to say . I completely emptied the cupboards, considered pan lids ( as they have pre cut holes to thread on ropes, and cork coasters , but Ricky convinced me one night would be ok . so to cheer me up we went for a stroll over the sand dunes- it gets worse dear reader .The dunes were alive with scarab beetles (the Alexander type) - not too huge thank God but in their hundreds. In fact they were everywhere - even on the fuel pontoon when we fuelled up. Enough or I shall make you all itch as well. Back to the here and now...

This place is beautiful, gorgeous palm trees, mountains, bright white painted buildings and a long sandy beach ( minus the insects) This morning I went to the shop while Ricky mended the bilge pump and stumbled across a tiny beach bar on a tiny pebble beach, playing Bob Marley music -I just had to plonk myself down and have a coffee and sing along to Buffalo Soldier.

We are Definitely here for a few days.

Love Donna and Ricky xx
