Relaxing in Sivota Bay on Lefkada

08 July 2016
No luck in the bay of Fiskardho again, it was full to brimming, so we will have to try again another day.Meanwhile,we have been in this beautiful, horse shoe bay, with it's steep, green, forested hillsides, at Sivota bay on the southern side of lefkada for 4 days now.We have dropped an anchor and are tied stern to against the quay, opposite the local shop.( Very handy)It is a wonderful place to while away the hours and days and not too hot as every afternoon, so far, a wonderful cool breeze has come off the hillside. We are un ashamedly sitting on the boat watching the world go by, occassionally helping fellow sailors, whose anchors have stuck, diving in the water, to cool off and popping to our local for a beer or ice-cream.

We hooked up again with the crew of Free Spirits II and Ricky and Roger put Heather up the mast to spray our wind instrument with silicon WD40 as it had stopped working. Brilliant job Heather- thanks so much. Now we will know how strong the wind is in the WAZ (wind acceleration zones) between the islands.

We also saw the crew of Poppy and of course Ricky made a fuss of Stanley, who had unfortunately been attacked by a couple of stray port cats. They obviously didn't realise what an old softie he is and no threat what so ever - poor chap. There were a couple from one boat feeding some stray kittens, so perhaps they were protecting them and poor Stanley just got too close for comfort.

Today we tried the underwater camera again, but sods law, the fish we had been seeing when snorkelling the previous days decided to play hide and seek and we were 'it'. Ricky did spot an octapus sat in a hole near our anchor! He was reluctant to get too close in case the flash spooked it,so the pictures aren't that clear, so you'll have to make do with me doing my mermaid impression on top of the water.

Off tomorrow, but still deciding where. We may go up to Lefkas town to try to get another solar panel, so that we can be even more self sufficient. We are loving being 'green' - which reminds me; I have been on this laptop too long, it will need recharging soon and best to do that whilst the sun is out- so TTFN my friends,

Donna and Ricky xx

Sad times as evidence is piling up on our shores confirming that we are not looking after our planet.
