2 clueless day skippers with Patience

Set that sail - we’re out of here !

August 3rd - Finally, we left the boat yard and after a false start because one of the new seacocks was letting in a drip of water, we are now on the sea proper! It feels amazing to be sat at anchor amongst the other boats, with a Mythos in one hand and book in the other. We haven't travelled far, just a short sail to an old favourite spot - just a stones throw from the shore at Varco Bay. The bay is still as beautiful as I remember.

We have just 8 days until my niece Lydie and her friend Liv arrive for a week so happy to sail locally, wherever the wind takes us. We have to time the opening of the bridge to sail through the Lefkas Canal to Preveza, where the girls fly into, but other than that I won't be watching the clock.

The weather seems quite a bit cooler on the boat with the sea underneath us and the afternoon breeze. No leaks in fuel tank or seacocks, food in galley, plenty of water and beer in the fridge, power from the solar panels, free wind, the clearest largest pool ever to swim in - as Pumbaa and Timon said ' Hakuna Matata ' or as they say in Yorkshire 'That'll do. '

Sad times as evidence is piling up on our shores confirming that we are not looking after our planet.
