Crossing the Spanish / Portuguese border

23 September 2018

After a wonderful dinner of grilled Monkfish in the Monte Real Club de Yates in Bayona (think RYS, Cowes!), this morning greeted us with a pea-souper of a fog. Fortunately we could see lots of traffic offshore on the AIS and we were reasonably confident this was very localised. In fact 10 mins out of the harbour and the visibility was up to 1 mile. This gave us a good bit of practice with the radar but without any real stress.

This afternoon sees us crossing the border into Portugal in 15-20kts of wind from dead astern and blue skies. Champagne sailing.
