Kioni to Lefkas

With weather looking iffy, decided to relocate to Kioni. Delightful little village. Med moored on front. Had to re-moor after a few hours with a northerly chop across the moorings. Lesson - always put out more chain than you think you need then half as much again! Met guessers up the spout again! Light rain until 0200 equals torrential downpour until 0730, consequently all "harry dampers", however drying out and warming up as we head north for Skorpios and Sparti.

Sami to Port Vathi

Left Sami 0915. After a gentle motor with no wind, a southerly force 5 blew up from nowhere, making for a brisk sail to our lunch stop berthed up alongside at Pera Pigadhi. Not very comfortable in the prevailing wind, nor safe for a swim. Another brisk sail round to Port Vathi on Ithaca . Lesson of the day - Met-guesser's prognosis to be taken with large pinch of salt.

Sami -Kephalonia

After an excellent breakfast on the quay at Fiskardho, set sail for Sami at 1100. Straight run down to Sami. V efficient harbour master directed us to our berth. Well executed Med moor. Now enjoying a stiff gin on the QX before departing for dinner! No sign of Capt Corelli or mandolin!

Fiskardo

Yesterday gentle motor down Lefkas canal without grounding! Very glad we didn't make a dirty dash for it on Sunday afternoon as suggested as there was a horrendous thunderstorm from PM until the small hours and we were undoubtedly in the safest place. Moored up at Port Vathi on Meganisi. Lovely to see Pomegranates growing in back street gardens. Excellent meal of moussaka at local taverna. Early departure at 0730 to make way for the ferry. No wind so motor transit to Ormos Rouda on Lefkas for swim and breakfast. Excellent sail PM to Fiskardo on Cephalonia, with the wind veering conveniently to give us a straight tack down to the harbour entrance. Slightly tiresome Mediterranean moor sandwiched between a SunSunsailer and American gin palace, which looks like something out of thuderbirds. Not a gentleman 's motor yacht at all! May change my mind if invited onboard for snort! Happy Birthday Charles!

SAILBLOG

OGGY's RNLO and Anglo French Liaison Officer, acompanied by Linda and close friends Ruth (who conveniently has the right pieces of paper) and David, finding themselves at a loose end, will shortly be following in the wake of Oysseus's Aiaia. While this is slightly outside the OGGY's customary patch [...]
