At yet another marina, waiting on yet more weather.

Sorry I haven't been writing. We actually just got internet today for the first time since we were in Mobile. After leaving Pensacola, we stayed in Ingraham Bayou. Next, Joe's Bayou. After that, Watson Bayou. And after that, White City. And then, St. George Island. And finally, we reach St. Marks. We'll stay here probably through Monday, waiting on a front to pass. Not a whole lot has happened the past days that I've not written... Today my parents had me and aspen open two of our christmas presents early. My dad asks what day it is, and when we tell him it's the 17th, he calls out "This is day-before opening day!" so I was just like, okay, he's strange. And then he has me and aspen open a package each... And they got us new laptops, of our own!! I'm pretty darn excited!!! So tonight I'm going to turn into a vegetable. I'll write as I think of more boaty things to tell yall, because I know I've forgotten a lot and have slacked on my blogger-duties.
love,
annakah on kama hele
Later edit: Something i somehow forgot to tell y'all about. As we pulled up anchor that morning, we had an issue. We kept running the winch (the thing that pulls the anchor up for us) up and down, up and down, but the anchor simply wouldn't come free. My mom thought she could see it right under the boat, so my dad and aspen hopped into the dinghy to check it out. Now, there was a pretty strong wind, and a good chop, too, so holding the dinghy in one place was a little difficult. I was the one holding the rope attached to the dinghy. After a little bit of manuevering, my dad and aspen realised that the anchor was hooked on the boat itself. Yeah. Need an image? Our boat is a monohull, which basically means that it has one hull. Complicated, right? We also use a Danforth anchor. This is a little harder to describe, so you may need to look it up if you don't know. But basically, it's got two triangles that dig into the sand, dirt, whatever. Somehow, as we pulled the anchor up, we drove the boat directly over top of it, and each triangle (or fluke) got caught on either side of the boat.
Crazy, right? I didn't know that could happen! Luckily, no holes in the hull, no need for a tow, and everything is fine.
