Greetings-
Hi this is Jack writing and my boating experience started on San Fransisco Bay in the 60's. During that era, all the fun on the water was onboard a small power boat, but hey- It got me out there and lots of fish were caught and lots of good times were had by all. [...]After I moved to Florida in the 80's I still had a small power boat that I used to zoom over to the Bahamas for a weekend of diving and fishing. Once I retired from IBM, the pace became a bit slower and my interest turned to long distance cruising- so out with the powerboat and in with the sailboat. My first sailboat was a wonderful British built Rival Bowman 38' cutter rigged sloop. She was not only good looking and safe but sailed like a dream. We even won a few races. Lost a few as well. After spending almost 8 years onboard "VELELLA" sailing in the Caribbean Cheryl and I decided to head back to the states and enjoy the landlubber life. And we did, but after 5 years of gardening, grandkids and lake fishing it was time to get back on the sea. Cheryl spent a tremendous amount of time on the internet searching for boats. Really hard to look at boats when you are 1200 miles from any bluewater. But she managed to get all of our sailing friends in the 4 corners of the states to go and take a look at boats for us to weed out the non-qualifiers. The next entry will be from Cheryl and she will tell a bit about herself and our experiences so far with ZIG~ZAG.
