A cool winter day in Mexico with air conditioning

I'm sure that none of you back home want to be bothered with the word "air conditioning" in the midst of a cold and rainy winter. But I have a story about air conditioning. About how much I miss it and how much I love it. I miss it and love it so much that I am writing a blog about how great it is. So, in order to enjoy this blog you must turn up your heater as high as it will go, get a cold drink, and pretend you are in Huatulco Mexico with me.
After many a day with the hot sun beating down on our flimsy little boat, a person feels obligated to go into town for one reason: to find air conditioning. Yes, when it's hot enough, it's the thing we cruisers seek no matter where we are. It's almost funny how we aimlessly wander the bustling streets of Mexico, looking for a building with the shiny white box of coldness. Most places don't have air conditioning, unfortunately. Mainly it 's the large grocery stores like Sorianas and Super Che that have it.
The reaction someone gets when they are walking from the cruel, hot outdoors to a pleasant, air conditioned store usually goes like this: "Ohhh, ahh...," says my mom. Our bodies un-tense and everyone takes a deep sigh of relief as their shirts slowly unstick from their sweaty backs. Bob stands under the doorway, which has a machine savagely blowing air onto his head. "Come on Bob, let's go...," says his wife, Debbie. "No, I think I'll stay here for a little bit," he says, his hair being tossed wildly by the doorway's cool wind.
Well, this week we feel like kings and queens because we hooked up our air conditioner to one of our top hatches. I'm sure we aren't as cold as you up North, but we feel great! Next summer, trust me and don't take your air conditioner for granted. Enjoy it.
Our friends come by every once in a while to "test" our air conditioning. They also come to "test" our ice and lots of other things. Hmmm, do I see a pattern here? We also are enjoying the world of unlimited power now that we are in a marina. We can use all the computers at the same time, all the fans, both the TV's...
I know that you can't fully appreciate something unless you've been deprived from it!! I miss great salads with all the toppings and dishwashers (I have to wash mountains of dishes by hand), but on the top of my list is air conditioning.
