New Year

As I get older the winters seem of late to be cold wet and very windy. On the Beaulieu river we had three yachts blown ashore seemingly missing all other moored craft, Difran 2 had a few problems damage to Boom tent and Spray hood, all mended now. There have been two or three days when one i#was able [...]

Planning

The planning Exercise.
This to me is the most interesting aspect which has now been in operation since original concept.
Improvements to Difran 2 have been ongoing. Thje main one being improvements to the forecabin which was largely used as a bosuns locker and sail store.
But a young lady chose to come sailing during the winter 2013.
Matty made some positive suggestions to improve accomodation, repositioning of lights and linning the interior. matty has for the moment moved on in her ambition and has joined a yacht on passage from the Azores to UK. Her contribution has now been turned into the owners cabin.
The skipper sort of slumbed it while crew had best berths. I'm now going for tea in bed. Mr Tom Cunliffe can get his crew operating by starting the tea and Bacon cooking. I'm more in favour of the king of the black ball line and the bosuns Starter. Elf and Safety be dammed!!!
But to a serious note, crew and I attended the CA Baltic meet in February collected some really good info also added a selection of appropriate charts and pilot books.
All of which have been studied closely, I have set out a passage plan and passed it to the two boats who have said they are joining Difran 2 on the cruise. What a worrying period trying to get boats and crew together for a month it's worse than going to work.
Today the bad news! Charts ordered and payed for, available end of April???
Sorry end of May??? Sorry end of July???? I'm Sorry we go without Money back Please!!! Seems the sands in the Frisian Islands are not how Mr Childers left them.
Well what do you Know??? 100 years plus a few storms particularly 2013/14.
Looks like we will be working the lead line, good job I know a fathom from a Meter, As ' Will' at Force 4 said we can let you have ' Riddle of the sands'
for a small fee, its all in there.

My dear wife said this morning it's a fine day, let us go and vital ship, or at least make a start so out I leap at 05.45 make the usual Cuppa, then set about a scone making exercise she had devised that would work well in my origa cooker on board. No gas you see! Friends blew the top off their boat, and got a bit scorched themselves. I've been down that road with electrocution and setting myself on fire its not pleasant, and a bit painful.

So Back to the planning The Boat is ready as soon as I finnish the Bowsprit Bolt into the deck. Stores have been stowed and we meet Alan Skipper of Boudica for a chat on Wednesday. He has pressure of Work I do not know why?? Yes I Do, I would go Back tommorow after 17 years of retirement.
Why !! I Do not Know???
My Life has been one of excitment and danger the next venture is about to happen!!
Our crew have been briefed, Difran 2 is ready, for she knows not where
Just the niggle of Charts.
