Long winter

Winter feels extra long this year. The weather hasn't been great lately, a lot of rain and cold temps. Not much happening on at Jade at this point. Randy is still there everyday doing who knows what. We did go camping for a couple of weeks. It was nice to have a change of scenery. I spend time looking at charts and dreaming about our strategy for next year. We have years to sit around the house here. Hopefully a plan will come to fruition next winter.

New galley

We finished up the galley renovation in about a week. We had a piece of Corian we have been moving around for twelve years. We can't even remember how we acquired it. Randy was getting tired of working around it in the shed so we figured why not. I made a pattern of the old to be sure we would have enough if we started ripping into it. We did with very little to spare. We are thrilled with the results and how fun it is when it is so little in materials and all our own labor. We spent the last two nights aboard with Sophie. She did ok, a little manic but she always is whether it is camping or boating. We will try again if the weather is right to get her used to it. We figured out a few little things to make her even more user friendly which we will work on in the next couple of weeks. We absolutely adore her and are enjoying every second of owning her.

We launched JADE on Wednesday. Some sailor friends just happened to be visiting us at the time on their way to the Keys to launch their 43' foot Hans Christian for the season. A great visit! She is a beauty and we go everyday to peck away at projects and just hang out. For the most part every system seems to be functioning. We bought her 1/2020 on the hard. We were buying her barring any major issue and after Randy dug into her it was a go. So it has been a pleasant surprise to find that things are working! I still walk up to her and say I can't believe we own JADE. We have admired her for years! So happy days ahead.
