Another late start to the day, probably down to the fact that we had plans today to do the laundry and grocery shopping - not a day to look forward to by any stretch of the imagination.
We had breakfast and to get me more motivated Gerry ran the water heater so that we could have at least warm water for our shower this morning, we made the most of it but were still conservative with the amount of water we were using. We sorted the laundry into 2 large bags and prepared the dinghy for the trip across the harbor to the dinghy dock under the cruise liners (there were 3 in dock this morning including a Disney cruise liner - MICKEY MOUSE!) I digress, we stashed all the bags and clambered into the dinghy, being blown all over the place and tossed about by the swell we made our way to the dinghy dock and muscled our way into a spot to tie up, there were so many dinghies there this morning that we thought we must have missed out on something happening. Once tied up we walked the short distance to the washboard laundry which is more or less opposite the Pueblo supermarket. It was quite busy but we were in luck as there was a commercial size machine free which took all of our laundry in one hit for $6.75. We decided that I would stay with the laundry whilst Gerry went across to the supermarket and bought as many cartons of soft drink as he could carry and take it back to the boat. I had just put the laundry into the drier when he returned, having bought 3 cartons of soft drink and 1 of beer. It took about another 40 mins for our laundry to be dry we then folded and packed it into our bags and returned to the boat with it, stopping just long enough to have a cold drink and put the laundry away in its right places. Next thing on the agenda was lunch, we were going to try the roti place again and hope that it was open today. Another ride in the dinghy, this time to the town dock, we got a little wet on the way as the heavens opened but it didn't last long. We walked the short distance to the roti shop and were rewarded with it being open YAY! Gerry chose a boneless chicken Roti and I had the goat one - complete with bone all washed down with a cold beer and soft drink. We avoided another rain shower whilst eating and once we had finished lunch we headed back out into the now humid and sticky street. We returned to the dinghy and made our way to the other dinghy dock by the cruise liners and close to the supermarket. We came across Kirk on the dock, he had "borrowed" a supermarket trolley to bring his fuel and shopping back to the dock so we did our kind deed for the day and took the trolley back with us to the supermarket as we were headed there ourselves. We wandered the aisles filling the trolley with things that we thought we would be needing for the next week or so, paid and loaded our bags and began our return trip to the boat. Back on board I unloaded the groceries whilst Gerry returned the dinghy to the davits as we plan on leaving Charlotte Amalie tomorrow as long as the weather holds to the forecast.
The rest of the afternoon was spent sleeping in Gerry's case and reading in mine.
We had sundowners on board and Gerry cooked steaks for dinner. We tried facetime chatting with Dale and Lorie but the connection was terrible and kept freezing before we finally gave it away for the night. Priss has remained in her hidey hole, still not sure how she is hanging on or if she is drinking and eating when we aren't looking. To date she appears to be pain free and happy to let us make a fuss of her but she lacks energy and won't come out of the quarter berth to spend time with us as she has in the past. All we can hope for is that she isn't suffering.
I've mentioned that we have an aero garden and have been growing herbs, we have had to trim the basil a couple of times and the thyme and mint are growing well now, the last 2 are a bit slower but are getting there; so today's photo is to prove that we have fresh herbs on board.
