Who would have thought that I could possibly have a swimming pool for a bed 2 nights in a row! Sweat was the name of the game again along with trying to find a warm dry patch to sleep in. I got up quite late thanks to Gerry getting up at 6am and leaving his dry warm side of the bed to be taken over! He was doing a good job of being quiet for a change but I knew what he was doing as soon as the smell of diesel permeated the cabin. I forgot to mention that yesterday he had discovered that there was a fuel leak happening somewhere around the filter and he had temporarily "fixed" the leaking by placing a plastic bag over the filtering bottle in the hope that there wasn't any further leaking- huh who was he kidding. So bright and early he had the fuel filter / water separator taken apart from the engine and was trying to identify where the leak was happening from. The prime suspect spot was the seal between the bowl and the housing. I could just see him at the galley sink with all the relative parts plus tools but chose to keep my eyes firmly closed and ignore everything until he had finished and cleaned up the mess he was making. Unfortunately it wasn't obvious where the leak was occurring so he cleaned it all up, replaced the seal with a new one and then proceeded to put it all back together again. I mistook this as the time to show my face and promptly got instructed to "hold this" whilst Gerry screwed some new hose to the intake side. With that done he replaced the filter and housing onto the engine, I sat quietly out of the way in the saloon knowing that where ever I sat would be wrong. With everything back in its place we had coffee, sitting in the cockpit watching the world go by, well more to the point was watching nothing happening in the harbor! By mid morning Gerry had found that he wanted to try and replace some hose which required another trip in to the chandlery, I opted to stay on board and have a shower change of clothes and do a bit of the blog. It was only a matter of minutes before he returned with the news that the chandlery wasn't open today so no hose to be had! As lunchtime approached I was starting to feel a little better (about time!) and we both sat out in the cockpit for the entire afternoon watching the antics of a turtle who must have its nest somewhere near by our boat. It kept poking its head up, rolling around in the sun for a moment or two then vanishing for
half an hour or so then repeating the process, gradually getting closer to us. Of course the camera was down below when Myrtle, as we have nick named him/her, was at his/her closest. We did manage to get one photo but it wasn't the best as she was a bit too far away!
For the first time since we have been anchoring in this harbor the wind came from the south today and we were spun around in totally the opposite direction to the way we had anchored. Luckily there is plenty of space between all the boats around us so we all had plenty of maneuvering space but it certainly made it difficult for any new boats coming in to anchor and not knowing where the prevailing wind comes from. So we did nothing other than turtle watch all afternoon, I had a Snore o'clock just because I felt the need and I still felt reasonable when I got back up. Gerry cooked dinner and we sat out in the cockpit until the sun had vanished and it began to chill down. I'm just about ready for bed again with a few more pills and a good night maybe I've gotten rid of this virus at last, I sure hope so! Gerry hasn't been affected by it and I hope it stays that way as I don't need a case of man flu to look after when I'm not quite up to par myself!
We are about to watch the final episode of Mr. Robot - Mrs. CN, you had better be right or I'll seriously have to reconsider our friendship!
