I left off yesterday with a promise to give you an insight to our "deluxe" apartment. Now I know you are expecting to see the penthouse of the Hilton but you will be very disappointed - it's not quite that good but it's also not anywhere near as expensive as that! Ill post the photos in the gallery so you can ooh and ahh at the sheer luxury. I'm truly not complaining, its spacious and clean and fairly well equipped with most things required for a short stay. The whole apartment is open plan apart from the bathroom which does have a door on it. Through the access door you are straight into the kitchen area complete with sink (cold water only), cupboards, an oven and stove top, a microwave, coffee maker and toaster and a decent size fridge. There is enough crockery, cutlery and cooking utensils to get by with, a breakfast bar and 2 stools completes the area. The bathroom is directly off to the right hand side off of the kitchen - shower, toilet and sink all present, clean and working. There is hot water to only the shower, this is via an electric water heater (switch in kitchen - don't forget to turn it on before jumping in the shower!)they supply the usual 2 thin, motel type, towels, 2 wash cloths and one hand towel oh and a floor mat along with tiny bottles of shampoo and a spare toothbrush, but no soap -very odd!
From the kitchen you walk straight into the lounge area which has a 3 seat sofa, a coffee table, a large poof - or maybe it's a foot stool, what looks like a desk without a chair and a very large TV on the wall - quite up to date as it is WIFI enabled, then there is a WIFI router - Yay we have internet!
The lounge area is separated from the bedroom by a pair of curtains behind which provides the only bit of privacy from the bedroom. The bed is a regular double size bed, sadly lacking in pillows - just one flat one each and the bed itself is on the hard side of firm - good for your bad back! There is plenty of wardrobe space, a second poof - not sure why, a student work table and chair and a mirror leaving a huge walk around area containing nothing.
The floors throughout are tiled and there is one large air conditioner which manages to keep the apartment cool.
After the boat it feels like we are in a huge mansion but without all of our clutter its really unfair to compare it.
I have put some photos in the gallery of the apartment and have to apologize for them, they really aren't the best but it gives you the broad view of our home from home for the week.
We slept like it was going out of fashion and woke early enough to hear the sparrows fart. Ate breakfast at leisure and then decided on how we were going to spend the day. I elected to stay in the apartment, do the small amount of laundry (oh yes there is an on-site laundry for general use) and try to upload some photos of our trip across from St Georges to Prickly bay and the hauling out of the boat into the yard - check them out in the gallery. Gerry wanted to check on the boat, make sure the guys were starting the acid cleaning and maybe the sanding today and then he was going to a meeting with Lorie and the Port Louis management about the electrical damage to her boat. After the meeting he was going to go shopping and organize the paint and equipment purchases to do the anti-fouling work. It was almost lunchtime when he returned with Lorie in tow, I had just about finished my uploading and laundry so we had lunch and once again decided on activities for the afternoon. Gerry was returning to the boat to finish with removing the paint and buildup of gunk on the propeller and clean it up along with the skeg and prop shaft, then he greased the main through hole valve and removed the worn out zincs ready to replace with new ones. A bit more purchasing of stuff followed at the local budget marine store before he returned to the apartment for a shower, change of clothes and dinner. Meanwhile Lorie and I vegged out all afternoon watching movies in the apartment - well someone has to do it!
We went to the container park for an early, cheap dinner before taking Lorie back to her boat then heading to our apartment for a second early night in preparation for a busy day tomorrow.
