HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE, WE WISH YOU ALL GOOD HEALTH AND HAPPINESS.

A VERY HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO OLIVER, WE HOPE THAT IT WAS FULL OF LOVELY PRESENTS AND CAKE.

At last we have seen the back end of what has been a very trying year for so many people around the world as we welcome in the start of a new year filled with hope and promise. We saw the Sydney fireworks and that was enough celebrating the start of the new year for us, a bit like it being 5 o'clock somewhere, it was new year somewhere! As we were still under an 8pm curfew here in Grenada we had no plans to go out and light up the town, though even without the curfew we wouldn't have been going out anywhere - far too much effort involved for us these days! We sat on our boat and watched Netflix until the witching hour of nine o'clock and then got ourselves ready for bed - we fully admit to being old and needing our beauty sleep more than ever these days. We did read for long enough to know that there were no parties going on around us and as it turned out there were no fireworks that we know of either - a very quiet NYE!
We greeted the new year with a pinch and punch, no hangovers and was happy to see that after the last couple of wet and gloomy days, the sun had found its way back to us once more - it was a good start to the year! Neither of us had made any resolutions apart from getting ourselves back to Australia before the end of the year. Of course it will all depend on what the various countries along the route decide to allow in the way of transiting through their waters and what restrictions they have in place for us stopping to re provision and rest - we hope that they are reasonable but who knows after the panic and lockdowns of 2020, all we can do is take it as it comes and deal with it at the time. I did contemplate the diet and exercise resolution that we all tend to think about but after careful consideration I came to the conclusion that nobody likes smug, skinny, fit women anyway so I haven't given that a second thought but I will try my hardest to be healthy and stay well. If any of you were stupid enough to make resolutions I wish you luck in trying to keep them.
So how did we spend the first day of the new year? We did nothing! There were no outstanding jobs that needed attention and the inclination to do anything was MIA. Of course nothing was open today so there was no point in going ashore for anything, not that we need anything at present anyway. So we sat and played computer games, read a bit and watched some TV, ate when we were hungry (nothing too taxing on the cooking front), had a drink at the appropriate time and wondered what everyone else was doing.
We have plans to move to another bay in the coming week, just for a change of scenery and to make sure that we haven't grown roots to the sea bed here, it won't be a long trip and hopefully we will still get internet there but I can't be sure at the moment, it's something for worrying about next week!
I hope that your hangovers aren't too bad and that your new year turns out a lot better than the last year has. I look forward to hearing from you all by comments, email, smoke signals, semaphore or any way you can think of to keep in touch.
