This slow day stuff is becoming a habit that we are going to have to break sooner or later. We thought we were going to head around to another bay today with Dale and Lorie but as it turned out we ended up not going. Gerry was about to do a shore run to drop off the trash and texted Dale to see if they had any trash to go in, Dale's response was that he had already got his trash in his dinghy and was about to ask us the same question and as he was already loaded up to go he would take ours in, this left Gerry with nothing to do for at least ten minutes. When Dale picked up our trash the guys had a brief discussion about moving today, it came to light that none of us were particularly bothered about going anywhere else, we were all fairly content to sit where we are as it is convenient for so many things - Budget Marine, the laundry, the deli, the container park etc. so we elected to stay put and not see if our boat is firmly affixed to the harbor bed here! Lorie invited us for dinner tonight - those pork chops were still going begging. As always I asked what I could contribute, surprise - how about another cheesecake. Well this was going to be a no go as I hadn't got all of the necessary ingredients on the boat and they certainly weren't available at Budget Marine however I did have the ingredients to make cherry chocolate brownies and chocolate mousse - that would have to do.
By today we had run out of bread and I thought whilst I was going to be playing in the kitchen I might as well make a loaf. As the bread would need to prove I started out with making that, adding some herbs and parmesan cheese to the mix to make it suitable to eat with our pate and cheeses from the deli and set it out in the warmth of the cockpit to prove. Gerry was itching to know when it would be ready and should he check on it/ move it/ bring it back in to the point that I had to tell him to find something else to do as it would be ready by lunchtime but you can't hurry these things. He took himself off into the Nav station and sat staring at the computer, checking our charts to see how far they extend to and what ones we need to order to get us the rest of the way home. It turns out that we need 3 more electronic charts which he contacted Budget Marine to see if they had in stock, who are we kidding, they need to be special ordered in; did they have prices? Again who were
we kidding, they would check and let us know. Whilst he was at the computer he did some fiddling about with a Blue tooth GPS that he borrowed from Dale to see if he could get our Time Zero Navigation soft wear, which needs Bluetooth connection, to work - that was apparently only partially successful, I'm not sure why and Gerry can't explain it to me. Meanwhile I made some caramel sauce, just because I had some cream that I needed to use up and then got stuck into making the chocolate mousse and cherry brownies. The bread rose spectacularly and I ended up having to divide it into 3 loaves rather than the 2 I had planned on. As soon as the bread was in the oven and began to give off that yeasty aroma Gerry was asking if it was ready yet - honestly anyone would think he was starving! The wait for another half hour was just about killing him, I have to add here that the wait was worth every last second, the bread was delicious! We whiled away the afternoon doing not a lot of anything. One good thing that happened late in the afternoon - the boat that anchored so very close to us, that we were referring to it as our new dinghy, finally decided that maybe they were too close and hauled anchor and moved further out and away from us. We aren't quite sure why they suddenly decided to move but at least now we can walk around our salon naked without the possibility of having someone staring from their bow straight into our boat! We would also be able to do the turtle spotting and watch the sun set once again.
We made our way over to Gypsy Palace at the appointed hour and had a delicious dinner, discussed our respective lazy days, our lack of food stuffs as we hadn't done a grocery run since before Christmas and both boats were running low on essential items. We put the world to rights before heading back to our boat to watch the final episode of one of the Netflix series we have been watching.
