Up the mast again - twice in two days!

Weather; sunny, wind n/a, waves n/a

Here we are on a Sunday, sitting watching the water sports being enjoyed by a whole load of people out in the harbor yet again. It's windy enough to blow everyone along quite quickly but the water isn't too choppy making it the perfect day for windsurfers, sunfish, and small sailboats to air their sails. The party boats have gone through the anchorage and headed out for a day on the water and a few stink boats have roared through the place in the hope of catching some fish. What have we been doing today? Nothing very much again! We ran out of bread this morning so that was the first job on the agenda as it takes a while to make the dough and let it proof. I wanted to try a new recipe for a milk loaf that David kindly sent me but as usual I had to tweak the recipe to suit the ingredients that I had on board. As you can see from the photo it turned out pretty darned good and tasted even better though it did get a bit of finger blight as soon as it was out of the oven - Gerry just couldn't help himself!
After I had mixed the dough and it was proofing Gerry asked if I could assist him and haul him up the mast, yet again! Twice in two days - this is getting to be a bit tiresome! Just like yesterday he wiggled into the bosun's chair, donned the headset and attached the main halyard to the bosun's chair whilst I donned my headset and prepared the winch rite. Following exactly the same steps as yesterday I hauled him up as he climbed the steps on the mast until he was just above the first set of spreaders where he swung himself out and around so that he could attack the port side spreader yet again with his hammer, hopefully this time he would get it back into place! A few bangs later and he was instructing me to let him back down again, I know I say it every time he goes up the mast but I'm so tempted to raise the ransom to bring him back down - he needs to be very nice to me! Anyway he was soon back down on deck, having made sure that all of the steps were folded back into their closed position - I really didn't need to be doing this again tomorrow. Really that was the excitement for the day over and done with. Gerry got busy and put the awnings back up over our salon area now that the wind has calmed down a bit and apart from that nothing much else was happening so we spent the afternoon reading quietly until it was time to watch the sunset out in the cockpit. I took a few photos as the sky was the prettiest that we had seen since arriving here but I was disappointed when I looked at them on the computer as they were all blurry so they ended up being deleted, hopefully I'll have another chance to get some pictures of the skyline with a pretty sunset again soon. I had planned on a roast dinner but neither of us were particularly hungry so we ended up having "Soup Sunday" along with fresh bread before watching the next episodes of our current Netflix series.
We know that there is a free shopping bus tomorrow morning that leaves from the dock at 9am so we need to make sure that we are up, dressed and ready to go ashore in time to catch the bus - it's going to be a shock to have to be ready that early when we normally just ease into the day! Will let you know if we make it!
