BIRTHDAY GREETINGS TO COLLY, WE HOPE THAT PUDDY DOESN'T PRESENT YOU WITH ANY BIRTHDAY SUPRISES AND THAT MARK DOES!
Well today is going to be a very short blog as everything has remained the same for the past 24 hours.
The wind has remained in mostly the same direction so we haven't had to alter course and have continued to roll along at about 6.5 Ð 7 knots for the duration. The swell is still coming at us between 2 and 3 metres so we are rolling from side to side but there has been none of that crashing of waves that knocks us unexpectedly. Once the morning cloud had vanished we had a glorious sunny day which topped off the batteries however we are still needing to run the gen set for a short while overnight to make sure that they stay topped up, it's amazing just how power hungry George is when he's running for 24hours every day. The water maker got run for a couple of hours to replace what water we wasted by having a shower and washing out our swimmers. Deck patrol has netted us no flying fish or squid, I guess they can't keep up with the speed we are doing! The fishing rod has remained firmly in the rod holder, we are moving too quickly to catch anything or at least that's the excuse w
e are using! Our sleep pattern is about as regular as it is likely to get, we both need to have catch up sleeps during daylight hours to make up for the hours lost during the night. Our meals continue to be whatever we can throw together according to how much rolling the boat is doing at the time. We still haven't spotted any whales, there are no boats or other signs of life on the water for all of the miles that we can see around us, the dolphins have deserted us, there is an occasional bird that flies around but even they are few and far between now. Thank goodness for kindles and being able to download a stack of books before we started out on this passage Ð they are the only thing that stops us from having to talk to each other! So in the last 24 hours we have covered another 165 NM and not added any engine hours.
