Weather; beautiful sunny day, wind 5-15 knots, waves 1- 3 feet

A short quick update today as nothing very much happened all day and all night. We had the most gorgeous sunny day; the swell was almost flat calm but not quite as flat as the day we started out. The sea was a fabulous mid-range blue colour without a single white cap breaking it up for the entire day. The clouds were few and far between which was lovely in one way but has the down side of no wind making sailing a long and slow process. At least we weren't rocking or pounding through the waves and hanging on for grim death, the motion was more one that would have sent us off to sleep and to be honest we did snatch a few zzz's whilst we had the chance! Our speed was severely impacted and we mostly ghosted along at 5 knots but it was sometimes less and not very often more. Gerry played with and tweaked the sails frequently in a bid to get the absolute maximum drive out of them, I watched in amused silence at his frustration with each and every slight change in wind direction o
r speed. The jib and staysail went in and out more times than I can recall. We thought that the wind might pick up overnight but this proved not to be the case and the entire night was spent moving slowly along, mostly upright with very little heeling over for a change. We managed a respectable 131NM in the 24 hours, unlikely as it seems and only ran the engine to start the gen set up each time, adding just half an hour to the engine hours. The night sky was a Don Maclean song ( Starry, Starry night for those of you who aren't on my wave length!) and we got to see the partial moon for a while. As for other sightings, there was nothing, we haven't seen any evidence of life on the planet apart from ourselves since leaving Nuku Hiva, oh I lie, we have seen a few birds flying around that eye up our pulpit as if it is the B&T (bed and toilet) that they have been expecting to stay at. We still haven't put the fishing stick out as we aren't doing anything like the required troll
ing speed to catch anything Ð well that's Gerry's excuse anyway.

Today looks like being much the same as far as the weather goes but we are hoping that we get just a fraction more wind today so fingers, toes and eyes crossed! Will be back tomorrow to let you know how we went.
