This year we would like to share our  nature-focused experiences in the Bahamas.  We believe the Bahamas have many of the most beautiful islands and waters anywhere in the world.  Family and friends are invited to view these pages anytime, and we will send you emails when the site is updated.
We began cruising the Bahama Cays (pronounced 'keez') and Florida Keys (pronounced 'keez') in 2005 on our trawler, Son of a Sailor.  From 2005 thru 2007 we cruised about 9,600 nautical miles around Florida, the Chesapeake and the Bahamas.

Back in South Carolina are our son Rudy, and his wife Malia.  They live in Beaufort, SC.  Rudy is a Marine who spent four tours in the Middle East.
We are now on board the new "Son of a Sailor" our 41 foot auxiliary sloop. Son of a Sailor is named after Dennis' father. He was a retired Navy Chief, a licensed, professional captain, and with his wife of 60 years, a resort manager in the Bahamas and the Keys.  He was from the "old school," meaning that regarding boats, there was almost nothing he could not do, make or fix.  He was a craftsman in many things, and a journeyman at the rest.  We often wish he were still around to provide guidance and lend a hand....
Each year we leave Dennis' Mom at home in St Augustine, and stay in touch with her every day by sat phone and email.  We're fortunate that she supports our travels, since she got such a huge shot of being on the water in the Keys and Bahamas for many decades.  Her companion is Beta, the long-legged rescue cat, along with friends and family.
