Back in the BVI & Mooring Pandemonium
24 March 2017 | Marina Cay
Rainy
March 22nd
We cleared in at Sopers Hole, yesterday went into Roadtown to Digicel to get our internet for the month, and then headed to Marina Cay for the night.
We woke this morning to mooring and anchoring pandemonium! Absent wind, the moorings in this location are placed too close together so we always try to select one at the edge which we did. This morning there was pretty much no wind but light rain. Keith yelled at me to come up on deck since the 40+ foot Alden (beautiful boat) that anchored behind us (too close to the mooring field) was now along side us about 3 feet way from kissing OP. Keith tried to get the occupants attention but there was no response. Luckily, it then drifted back the other way. As this shift occurred, We looked around and boats were pointed all different directions with several in close proximity of hitting. Then the yelling began as folks were trying to fend off boats with most of the boaters still below asleep or at least unaware of the situation. It all seemed to work out without any damage to boats but it seemed to us that this was probably a good time to leave - so we did! The photo was taken after the boats separated so it really doesn't do the scene justice. Oh well - off to Virgin Gorda!
