santander to gijon

28 August 2007
after spending 2 nites anchoring we set off to vicnete de la barquera, where we got there fri and stayed til sun. it is a small town, where they have an alleyway which goes upwards to a castle and a great view. we had a problem there when our anchor dragged while we were in town. 2 very nice people helped us cuz our boat got stuck with another boat. T-G everything was ok except for a little dent. we ended up tied up to another boat for the nite. the problem there it was a hard anchorage place and the co. did not give us nearly enough chain. the town was great and we left there sun, and it took us 8 hrs to get to gijon, by motoring. we got here while a drinking festival was happening and joined in the fun. yesterday the 27th we did a tour of the city, changed the oil in the boat, and tried unsuccessfully to find chain for the boat. the marina is smack in the middle of the old city so it is very convenient. we hope to leave tomorrow.

I had to submit because I have a time limit to do this. I just would like to add that right now we are sitting on the boat and there is 30 kt winds outside. I also want to mention while in France, we visited a beautiful island called Isle De Re. It is extremely quaint and amazing. Mark will try to post apicture. No promises
