Looking Better

07 April 2014 | Still in Whangarei
WX Has Been Perfect
Another little update. Lisa spent all day yesterday on the sewing machine and only got half of what needed done. Today was focused on computer chores, i.e. getting files backed up, downloading some new programs and chasing down how to do this with that on the computer.

Yesterday I spent most of the day cleaning and rinsing the beach mat that sits on the deck above the outside salon. found some tears in the boltrope sewing and prepared to repair. Removed the lifeline stations so the rigger to make the final adjustments to the shrouds. Cleaned up the outside salon after Lisa finished sewing and them warmed up some left over very spicy hot Spanish rice for the cookout. We partook in the local marina Sunday Evening BBQ and then went back to the boat for a little Uke Jamb Session with Lisa and Bob.

Today was spent repairing the beach mat and finish drying the foam that was rinsed and still soaking. Late in the afternoon, Brian the rigger showed up to tighten the shrouds. After an hour of work he exclaimed that the uppers were as tight as he feels comfortable making them. Brian is a very highly respected rigger here in Whangarei. He is now retiring so there is going to be a void in the area. He has spent many a trip to both the West and East coast of us sailing in regattas and he now looks forward to putting his yacht into Category A Shape over their winter. Good Luck Brian.

And one final thing for today, No blog tomorrow or the next. We are driving down to Auckland, stopping by Sheep World so Lisa can sheer a sheep and then doing a little reconnoitering for our trip down there in the boat in a couple weeks. Will blog when we get back.

Cheers

John
