John
Ok so we missed blogging yesterday. It was a busy day traversing the town of Savusavu, shopping for just about anything by buying nothing. Got the lay of the land and so this morning we took our time getting ready for our day and then headed into town and the market. Got a good load of fruits and vegetables so we are mostly ready to head out on Monday afternoon for a week down near Tavauni Island to do some diving before sending Walt on his way back to Fiji.
So the real reason we missed the blog yesterday was that we got a late call from SV Soffie, a Lagoon 500, to come to a BBQ on their boat with two other boats. They caught a 6 foot long marlin and were sharing the fish with us all. We each brought a side dish and the BBQ the marlin steaks which were about 1.5" thick. I think we each got a 1/3rd lb of marlin. It was excellent and so I kind of look forward to maybe catching one. Their fish weighed in at about 250lbs and the caught it on a pole with 80lb test line. Took their friend over 5 hours of fighting it before both were so tired the fish slid right up the back of their boat.
Tomorrow we are renting a car and heading to the other end of the island for some sight seeing. Will probably be too tuckered out to blog so don't expect too much.
All for now and will blog tomorrow or our Monday.
Cheers.
John
