Oahu HI Landfall
25 July 2015 | Ko Olina Marina
After spending two days getting our land legs in Honokohau Harbor, seeing the volcano (poured down rain entire time on the mountain). When we returned to the harbor, a sport fishing boat brought in a 490 lb Blue Marlin. The owner gave us a large chunk of it (13lbs) in trade for some garbage bags. The next day we took in Kono and we left Honokohau around 0100 in the morning heading for Maui and the aquarium.
There is a marina there but it is more commercialized than Honokohau so we had to set anchor outside. It was an overnight trip and we arrived about noon. Wind had picked up to a steady 20 knots as we pulled into the anchorage. Set the hook in 25 feet of water and laid out a seven to one scope. Had some lunch and headed for the aquarium. The Maui aquarium is always very nice. We jumped back into our dinghy around 5pm and headed back to Orcinius and found here right where we anchored her. Made up some dinner and then weighed anchor and headed for our final overnighter to Ko Olina Marina.
Here we sit taking a break and catching up with Bob and Ann from Charisma. Will be here for a couple weeks before heading to the mainland.
Pictures to follow once we get some good internet which should be later today.
