Over the weekend, Victoria had incredible wind storms. We are lucky with our slip location in the marina that we don't get a lot of wave action. That doesn't change the amount of noise in the rigging though, so it made for a very long, noisy evening! We had been out late enjoying a pot luck dinner with friends, partaking in lots of wonderful food & wine, so okay maybe that didn't help either!
We woke in the morning hearing lots of voices on the dock, and you could tell that something was wrong. Darren rushed out to help & further down the dock our poor neighbours dock had come away from the main finger, & a float popped up. They were madly trying to untie their boat from this sinking piece of cement, along with lots of help from others. In the end they moved to an available slip beside us, and there was no damage to their boat - thank goodness!
While others prefer the security of being tied to the dock, this incident reaffirmed to me that in a storm, we much prefer to be swinging free on our anchor in an empty anchorage!
