Community/Family

27 April 2012
Last fall you may recall that we moved our floating home to a new location that promised beautiful amenities with some much needed pampering. For six weeks we enjoyed the luxury of the hot tub on a rainy day, the pool for a swim before bed and the gym for a workout! It was amazing! Just as we were getting quite used to this life, we received notice that the facility would be closed for four months for renovations! In short, this place quickly became just another marina.

To stay positive, I immediately put my head down and started recruiting friends from our previous neighbourhood in hopes that they would occupy the upcoming vacant spaces May 1st. We were so eager to share this pampering. Sadly, to no avail, the waiting list is a long one and there was no hope of any of our friends joining us in our new neighbourhood.

Every Sunday morning, Darren & I start off with a nice dog walk & then stop for a special coffee at the local coffee shop. Not sure what date, but one Sunday in March we sat with our coffees overlooking our previous marina & reminisced about the live aboard community there and how we missed everyone, despite not having all the attractive amenities. We had a revelation so to speak. So, off I went, tail between legs so to speak, visiting the office to find out if there was any chance we could possibly return. I am thrilled to write that we have been blessed with not only a space to return to, but the same slip we had previously! Must be meant to be! This weekend is the big move & we have been counting down the days like a kid does for Christmas morning!

The other day, as we were given a fresh caught crab from a neighbour, we were reminded that during our brief time here we have also made a few good friends! We have also gained the knowledge & value that people truly do add to our live aboard experience. They provide a welcoming, friendly community that we now fondly refer to as our extended "family." So tomorrow as we say goodbye to the amenities here, we are very grateful to be heading back home! Looking forward to saying "hello" again, sharing laughs, complete with huge hugs to our extended family! (Translation - celebrating!!)
