Dawns Retirement

So this is it for my nursing carreer, Dawn. After 38 years of nursing I have retired. Had a wonderful dinner with coworkers, a great tea party with hospital staff and a nice party with my family! And another party is coming up in the summer when I make my way home again! Met up with my good Captain Randy on March 4th after a long cold winter in Canada! Randy has made a great number of improvements on the boat while I was away. He retired in November and came down to Panama! New stove, fridge, cupboards, shiny floors, fixed water tank and new sails! He also painted the hull above the water line! The boat is looking fine and ready for us to spend some serious time on her. We bought the boat 15 plus years ago and have had only weekends and few weeks at a time on her, other than the year off we took in 2010 so are looking forward to having more and more time on her. Arrived to the San Blas, Panama, off to the Cocoa’s and hung on the anchor for my first week off. Liking this retirement thing! Lots of great snorkelling with friends from Respite and Diva. The highlight of the snorkelling was when a large ray – 6 feet across and 12 feet long with his tail, swam by us and then came back, within 3 feet of me, to check me out. He had a white belly and I had my white dive shirt on – I think he was in love, but then on close up changed his mind! Funny I wasn’t scared at all, just curious like him! Gloria on Respite tells me nothing in the San Blas can hurt me. Even the 2 sharks I saw just swam on by! Starting to feel myself again – one with nature, God and the universe. Bring on the retirement; I am so ready to play!
