First part arrives

05 October 2009
We are in better spirits today as the first part for our new autopilot system has arrived. We grabbed it off the delivery truck like kids at Christmas and then spent the rest of the afternoon cutting a new hole into the side of the cockpit and fabricating a cover plate to cover the old holes (it would appear that Osprey has had at least two previous autopilots). Everything proceeded smoothly and we are quite pleased with the results. So now we are waiting for the brains of the new system to arrive tomorrow. It will take us all day to get all the new wiring done and then we will have to calibrate the new unit and "teach" it to steer Osprey.

The weather is all over the shop these days. We have had lovely dry, sunny weather over the last couple of days but it would appear that the winds have not been very conducive for a run down the coast as we spoke to Jarrod today and he has not left Narragansett Bay yet! We may end up catching up with him yet.
