Puffins!
15 July 2010 | Eastern Egg Rock, Muscungous Bay
With the eye of faith you should be able to tell that these little sea birds are puffins! Thanks to some dedicated scientists Puffins have been enticed to breed on Eastern Egg Rock in Muscungous Bay. We have passed by this rather desolate looking rock several times in past years but never at the right time of year to actually see these amazing birds. Breeding season is in full swing so we fully expected to finally have the chance as we went by today. Sure enough as we got closer we could see quite a few Puffins bobbing about in the waters close by the Rock itself. I was so excited it was tough to get a decent photo because I couldn't put the binoculars down long enough to grab the camera.
