After a much better night's sleep we awoke to another amzing day. We pulled up our very muddy anchor and chain and crept out of Seal Bay. The tide was low and as we passed the exposed rocks in the middle of the bay we could see severeal seals sunning themselves in the rising sun. There were even some very fat pups lolling about. We coasted up to the Fox Island Thorofare, the passage between the islands of Vinalhaven and North Haven, known collectively as the Fox Islands. This is always a scenic route and we were not disapointed on such a wonderful sunny morning. Once we were through the Thorofare we raised the sails for a rousing close reach up Penobscot Bay to our destination for the night. Cradle Cove is one of the anchorages within Gilkey Harbor, which itself is more of a passage between several smaller islands and the larger island of Isleboro. This is a beautiful spot and I'm sure will become another of our favorite anchorages.
We visited the folks at the Dark Harbor Boat Yard and paid for showers which were long and hot - worth every penny! Then as the afternoon wore on we were treated to the sight of several Schooners sailing into the harbor to anchor for the night. The schooners are at the end of their week long charter and have to be back in Camden and Rockland by noon on Saturdays - so this is a good spot to anchor for the last night of the trip.
And, of course it is only fitting that we have another incredible sunset!
