Cradle Cove, Penobscot Bay
05 July 2011
We finally broke away from Rockland Harbor this morning. It was a beautiful day (after a foggy day yesterday) and we were delighted to be out on the water. We were happy to be underway and even happier to be able to sail most of the way to our destination for the evening. We fetched up here in Cradle Cove, in the lee of 700 Acre Island - I always expect to find Winnie the Pooh here! It is great to be out cruising again. It is different to be doing this "short term", as opposed to heading out for a year. To begin with we have more space in our lockers, which means it is not like doing a Rubik's cube puzzle every time we go to get something out. I have taken a fairly relaxed approach to provisioning, knowing there are little country stores in many of the small towns we will be visiting. Amazingly enough though, we still seem to have accumulated a large amount of beer on board! We towed our supper with us today, in the form of two lobsters enclosed in a mesh bag. We have just finished eating them - they were just as delicious as we remember.
Tomorrow will be another day - we're not sure where we will head - we shall see which way the wind is blowing........
