Sorrento Harbor
16 July 2011
We ventured to a new , for us, port today. We reluctantly left the welcoming Winter Harbor Yacht Club and headed up Frenchman Bay to Sorrento Harbor. Here the cruising guide advised us we would find a guest mooring, courtesy of the Sorrento Harbor Yacht Club. Sure enough we arrived at this most scenic harbor, with a dramatic back drop of Mount Dessert Island across the bay, to find a mooring prominently marked "Guest". This is so gratifying to see and a large contrast to what we have found when cruising in other parts of the country - especially Florida. Here we are made to feel welcome and everybody smiles and waves when they see you arrive. As we pick up the mooring I spot the local lobster pound so that is our first stop. Having taken care of supper plans we relax and enjoy this beautiful place. Once again, another amazing day.
