Cruising with the Big Boys!

03 September 2008
Location: Sag Harbor, NY
Co-ords: 41 00.39 N, 072 17.73 W

After a long lie-in this morning we got up to a beautiful day. I swear Tom would sleep all day without waking if I didn't wake him up. We enjoyed a leisurely cup of tea (me) and coffee (Tom) in the cockpit before reviewing the weather forecast. The weather is definitely dictating our plans at the moment as we have to plan to get ourselves into a safe port for the weekend. So we decided to come over to Sag Harbor today, whilst the weather is calm, as it is not particularly well protected. We traveled all of 2 miles to get here! We picked up a mooring, no anchoring allowed, and headed into town. Having seen some of the other boats docked here and walked around town we realised that this would be an expensive night. Sure enough when it came time to pay for the mooring it was $75! Youch!! This is the most expensive mooring we have ever tied up to - ever. We should have just made an escape without paying and gone back to our lovely cove to anchor again, but we were so shocked we weren't thinking quickly enough.
