2009/2010 Season Beginnings

10 January 2010 | Mazatlan, Mexico
The Skipper
We are currently in Mazatlan, Mexico. This year we drove our car down here without any problems. Its real nice to have a car here for our errands.

So far this season we brought down parts to put the engine back together due to a renewed crack in her engine coolant reservoir requiring a new reservoir. Once repaired and tested we took her to the minute boat yard for a haul out. The bottom was repaired where needed, the through hull values greased, an old through hull plugged and patched over, fiber glass repaired as needed, the bottom sanded and repainted, just the usual stuff. We relaunched on Christmas Eve day, our present to ourselves. We managed to return to the marina through one of the windiest head winds we'd encountered in a long while. (15-22 knots on the nose) It made for a real lumpy, bumpy ride home to her slip in Marian Mazatlan. Christmas day was celebrated with PC video calls to our children and then a great turkey potluck dinner with all the other cruisers. Since then we've been getting Perpetua ready for another cruise south.

Thanks for visiting our blog. More to follow for sure!

Vessel Name: Perpetua
Vessel Make/Model: 1964 Piver Victress Trimaran
Hailing Port: Portland, Oregon
Crew: Pat & Susan Canniff
About: Pat has owned Perpetua since 1975, she was built in 1964. Pat's dream started before he purchased Perpetua. Susan joined the dream 26 years ago. Together they made it a reality. We left our homeport in 1999, cruised down the Columbia River and turned left for points south.
Extra: Never let the dream fade. Pat once got an award, from his local yacht club, for having the longest 5 year plan, in the club. Create a plan, work the plan, and keep on dreaming.
