I don't know what they were thinking when they built these boats with a mild steel cage glassed into the hull to support the rudder bearings. It has rusted and pushed the bearings out of alignment which is what is making the rudder very difficult to turn.
Outbound is Passport 47 hull #2 built in Taiwan in 1984. The Passport 47 was designed by Bob Perry who considers it one of his most attractive designs. The early Passports are beautifully adorned with interiors of solid Burmese teak shaped by skilled craftsmen.
