Happy New Year!

What a year it has been, after being on dry land since September it's hard to believe that Tim and I were once rowing the Pacific. We are now preparing for the London Boat Show starting on the 3rd of January 2002, the last time we attended the show was last January along with 'Crackers'.

Reflection

As you all now know, our North Pacific Unsupported rowing attempt came to a disastrous end when we were damaged and capsized beyond repair by an American fishing vessel. Now with our feet firmly on dry land and having got over the 'lucky to be alive' feeling we have to look at the positive aspects of [...]

Rescued

As you know by now, Pacific Odyssey has come to a dramatic and premature end. The Tuna fishing vessel 'Judy S' collided with Crackers cutting the hull virtually in two, throwing Dom into the sea and leaving me trapped in the upturned hull. After getting out we were taken aboard the Judy S and amanged [...]

Amongst Dolphins

Tim
Dolphins are very like the two Pandas on the KitKat advert. The minute a camera comes out they all disappear! Believe it or not there are about 200 jumping around the boat whilst this picture is being taken. Dom is desparately trying to catch them. We have had more luck with the video. We have had a good few days as you can see on the X plot. Wind more or less in the right direction and achieved some good mileage. From all of the messages we have been sent via the website it sounds like summer has taken a grip of the UK. I wish it would here, we have a good bit of sun but cold winds especially when Northerly. We have had a few very tired nights rowing beam on to the waves which takes it out of us. It also slams into the hull and soaks the on watch rower. We took a small rogue wave through the back hatch last week, enough to soak all of our bedding, grim damp soggy night! Dom is rowing at the moment and singing along quite happily to Dolly Parton. I can't get the hat and bandanna off him and he insists on crying Yee Har cowboy when it's my turn on the oars. Strange lad! Keep the messages coming, the funnies are great boost to Morale. Nobby, I see you still cant spell, Cheers Blood, we'll post him the boat back, Good luck with the plans Phil, but think abaout your back. It takes a hammering in the cabin!. All the best Tim and Dom.
