Happy New Year!

What a year it has been, after being on dry land since September it's hard to believe that Tim and I were once rowing the Pacific. We are now preparing for the London Boat Show starting on the 3rd of January 2002, the last time we attended the show was last January along with 'Crackers'.

Reflection

As you all now know, our North Pacific Unsupported rowing attempt came to a disastrous end when we were damaged and capsized beyond repair by an American fishing vessel. Now with our feet firmly on dry land and having got over the 'lucky to be alive' feeling we have to look at the positive aspects of [...]

Rescued

As you know by now, Pacific Odyssey has come to a dramatic and premature end. The Tuna fishing vessel 'Judy S' collided with Crackers cutting the hull virtually in two, throwing Dom into the sea and leaving me trapped in the upturned hull. After getting out we were taken aboard the Judy S and amanged [...]

Coming out fighting

We are still at the mercy of the current and frenquent storms making east progress a real challenge, but no-one said it was going easy. We have a couple of days of clear weather before the next storm arrives so we are are going to go balls out try and break free from the clutches of the mighty Kuroshio current. Tim had a close encounter with a shark on Tuesday when he went below the waves to check the hull of Crackers, within two seconds Tim was back on deck trying to get some pictures of this friendly Shark. I was bravely on deck for the whole time armed with a pistol flare. We had a large storm pass through our postion yesterday which generated huge waves, Tim and I battened down the hatches and made like clothes in a washing machine all night. We also met the Japanese Navy who were conducting an exercise at sea they sent two helicopters to have a look at our small boat in such a big sea, we gave them a wave to indicate we were quite happy and they returned back to thier ship to report the fact it was only the two crazy Englishmen rowing the Pacific. Thank you for all your messages of support keep them coming as it really does make a difference, and a big thank you to famous yachtswoman Ellen MacArthur who took time out from her race across the Atlantic to wish us luck. To our loved ones keep the home fires burning we wont be long and to all of you out there who face challenges in this voyage of life good luck from Tim and I.
