Happy New Year!

What a year it has been, after being on dry land since September it's hard to believe that Tim and I were once rowing the Pacific. We are now preparing for the London Boat Show starting on the 3rd of January 2002, the last time we attended the show was last January along with 'Crackers'.

Reflection

As you all now know, our North Pacific Unsupported rowing attempt came to a disastrous end when we were damaged and capsized beyond repair by an American fishing vessel. Now with our feet firmly on dry land and having got over the 'lucky to be alive' feeling we have to look at the positive aspects of [...]

Rescued

As you know by now, Pacific Odyssey has come to a dramatic and premature end. The Tuna fishing vessel 'Judy S' collided with Crackers cutting the hull virtually in two, throwing Dom into the sea and leaving me trapped in the upturned hull. After getting out we were taken aboard the Judy S and amanged [...]

One Month to Go!!

With the boat now safely aboard the PONL Kobi on her way to Japan we have at last had a chance to relax (a bit) before flying out to join her. We still have to complete training on the communications and camera equipment on board so we are profficent at sending images back from the Pacific. We can also now concentrate on the weather and currents in May around Japan. Depending on how the long range forecast and the present trends in the ocean are looking, will influence our start date and the route/direction we set out on. Medical training needs brushing up and making sure all of our immunisation jabs are up to date. Piling the weight on is also very important as we will be shedding it fast enough whilst at sea. So its stacks of food and as much time in the gym and on the water as possible. I also have the pleasure of squeezing a wedding in on Saturday and a short honeymoon. We (my new wife and I) will take a real break when (and if) we reach the United States.
