Long time no post anything, like since January. In a word I lost my enthusiasm for it basically because I got sick while I was here, which lead me on a different kind of adventure. Not to bore anyone with all the details but I started having problems, like chest pains several years ago but always related to drinking coffee. So I stopped. Then in Mexico before leaving La Cruz the end of November they kicked in again, but of course I'd had some coffee. By the time I reached Barra, 12/6/13, they were getting worse. I'd been to the doctors at home and had a clean bill of health to come down here, including a cardiologist exam that included the stress test, EKG and sonogram. No problems, probably an esophageal spasm. After all I had no markers for heart issues, no high blood pressure or cholesterol, never smoked, not a heavy drinker, never any drugs like cocaine or speed, no family history for heart problems, so it couldn't be my heart, but here, just in case you keep having these take some nitrostat pills. Must be the coffee.
So in Barra the local doctor, Dra. Erlinda Rubio went over my history and did a chest exam and thought it was probably my stomach, but sent me to a cardiologist in Manzanillo, Dr. Toscano. He did an EKG, full history review and said, you should get your stomach checked before I spend any more of your money. I saw the gastroenterologist, Dr. Vergara, in Colima after Christmas, which is why Marisa and I went there, and had an endoscope at the local hospital. Nope, not your stomach, go back to the cardiologist. In the mean time I'd been to the nearby town of Cihuatlan for blood tests and to Melaque for x-rays, Barra does not have that kind of medical services. Then it got worse. I flew home January 21, saw my cardiologist on the 24th, who also said had I not already had the endoscope done they would do that first because my symptoms were 'classic' gastrointestinal. Oh well, did the angiogram on the 27th and guess what, 95% blockage of the left descending artery when I suffered a heart spasm on the table. So, stint in place I left Tri-City Medical on the 28th.
So, here's a shot of me at a local Mexican pharmacy with their promotional guy working the street.
