Ladysmith to Chemainus

16 August 2014 | Maple Bay
Rain and Fog
We spent two nights in Ladysmith. It was a walk to town but it was good exercise and we liked the town. Nice little places to eat and we went through the little museum and learned about the history of the town. I even managed top get a new inner tube for my scooter so we can use it again. If it would only stop raining.
Ladysmith has a nice bakery and it was a hard decision as to what kind of sweet roll I would have for breakfast. We left Ladysmith for Chemainus all of about an hour away. We made reservations and also for the play Le Miserab'le(sp). The play was good by Tsugi's standards so I hope I made some brownie points. We had dinner on the boat before. It was raining when we came out so we hurried to the boat. It was late so we went right to bed.
Yesterday morning we left around 0930 and managed to hit our first log. It was just under the water and I did not see it until just before impact. I see where some paint was rubbed off but have found no damage so far and every thing is running vibration free. I hope we manage to get by without any damage. We met up with Copy Kate, another Tolly 48 from Nanaimo. We like them and had a nice chat on the deck of the Maple Bay Yacht Club.
Today we reposition to Sidney Harbor to pick up Bill and Elaine tonight.

Sunny and hot
I am really messing this blog thing up. We are presently in Ladysmith Harbor. Found a little jewel on our way south. We visited the intown museum and found this to be a local legend. Will include some pics soon.

Prideaux

Sunny and hot
I am trying to catch up on my blog now that it is raining and we are settled at a reciprocal dock in Ladysmith just south of Nanaimo. We left Von Donop and went to Prideaux Haven to see if our friends from the Tolly meet and our anchoring in Princess Cove were there. Sure enough they were there but just barely. Evidently they had issues that needed to be fixed so they just got back to Prideaux. When we heard that there was going to be a concert on the back of one of the larger yachts in the harbor we decided to spend a couple of nights there.
We left Prideaux, Saturday 9th and went to Pender Harbor and stayed at Sunshine Coast Marina and Resort. We took the dingy to the pub and had lunch. From Pender we across the Straights of Georgia to Nanaimo.
More to come.

Gorge to Walsh

Hot with little wind
Were baaaack!
Spent two nights at Walsh Cove and managed to clean the running gear and put some new zincs on with the help of Shayne. We also caught several dozen shrimp that we pulled just before we left for our current stop, Toba Wilderness Resort and Marina. I needed to get to where I could get wifi so that I could send out some documents required for the house sale.
We plan on going on to Von Donop tomorrow for two days.

Rain and Fog
Here in the Broghtons the weater is cooler and wetter than in Desolation Sound. I decided to pack up and move to Lagoon Cove and South after that to meet up with Bear Hunter ( Shayne and Mary ). Lagoon Cove is a great stop with friendly people and a pot luck shrimp happy hour every day. I even got to play Mexican Train with Jean the owner who took pity on us single guys and invited us up to the house after happy hour.
I left Lagoon on the 20th of July and waited for Bear Hunter in Teakerne Arm. There is a water fall toward the back and I anchored with stern tie just around the corner from it. We moved the next day to the other side and down into the arm for a more secluded anchorage. We did hike up to the lake and did some swimming.
On the 24 we stopped by Refuge Cove to stock up and then motored into Tenedos Bay to join up with several other Gig Harbor boats. I did go trolling only to find out that the area is a fish reserve so no fishing!?!? Oh well. July 29 had us moving north to Walsh Cove on Waddington Channel. I did manage to catch 3 dozen shrimp there. July 29th (T-Day) I departed for Refuge Cove and anchored out awaiting Tsugi's arrival at 1630. After arrival we went to Teakerne Arm again to our little cove where we could get all the oysters we wanted. We even went up to the lake again and had a swim.
