On The Road Again!
30 December 2013 | Rodney Bay, St Lucia

We are anchored off Rodney Bay ready to make our passage across to Martinique tomorrow.
Saturday morning we decided to head north again & leave our lovely mooring (& Jeremy & Susie – will see you again soon!) at the Petit Piton. We were both itching to get moving & see some new things. We had a reasonable sail north into the wind & dropped the anchor just outside Marigot Bay. We were a little surprised here – we had heard lots of wonderful things about the bay, but were a little disappointed. Yes it is beautiful, but not as much we expected. They bay itself is surrounded by mangroves & swarming with sandflies – there are plenty of mooring buoys & it is a great anchorage though. We were expecting plenty to do on shore, but there was only a large resort & a small complex with lots of empty shops & very few occupied ones open.
Sunday we headed north again into 25 knot winds to Rodney Bay. We anchored to the north of the entrance to the marina & jumped into Mr Slappy & headed down to the shopping centre south of the marina to do some sheet & towel washing. Unfortunately as we decided to head back to Pannikin after our washing & grocery shopping was done the lock on the dinghy wouldn’t open so we spent ¾ hour trying lots of different combinations. It finally opened when we bashed the bugger out of it with a big rock!!!! New lock needed for Mr Slappy!! We had a lovely beer with Justine & Peter from Manali – we probably won’t see them again for a while. Never say never – they while be back after trying to settle things back at home so they spend some decent time on their boat. Keep in contact guys & a safe journey back to Melbourne.
Today we checked out of St Lucia with customs, immigration & the port master. We picked up our refilled gas bottles after spending a lot of the day cleaning & scrubbing Pannikin ready for our trip tomorrow.
Happy New Year to everyone! Hope 2014 is a great one for you. We are looking forward to spending the New Year seeing as much as we possibly can.
