We ended up staying 2 nights on our mooring buoy in Dominica. On Friday after a morning of cleaning, odd jobs & clothes washing on PANNIKIN we jumped into Jeremy & Susie’s tender & headed to the closest town of Roseau. This is an unreal place – so alive & full of lovely, colourful & friendly locals who are very proud of their country. A large cruise ship was moored beside the town, so there were unreal markets & plenty to see & watch in town. We had a great wander & bought a few groceries & vegies before heading back to our boats. Steve spent the afternoon on JOY helping out with a few maintenance issues. We had a great BBQ on PANNIKIN that night with lots of yummy BBQ chicken (one was great, the other not so – another story!) & some great salads. One of our latest nights in a long time & a lot of fun.
Yesterday we headed up the west coast of Dominica & across to the Les Saintes – a small group of islands south of Guadeloupe. We had a swim & a snorkel & a quick wander through the small town we were anchored off & then an early night after a very pleasant 6 hours of sailing that day.
Today Steve & I headed to Pointe A Pitre, whilst Jeremy, Susie & Sandy headed to Basse Terre, both on Guadeloupe. We will catch up with them again soon. We plan to do some grocery shopping tomorrow & then will probably head up the west coast & catch up with JOY again at some time. We are looking forward to doing some more sightseeing on this French island!
