Amalfi

30 July 2014
Had a great day ashore with all the other tourists who disgorge from buses and ferries. Lunch out and found a treat of brown paper cone filled with deep fried tempura style fish, shrimp(we call bait)with shells, octopus and calamari. Topped with wedge of lemon on a skewer for eating. Did the tour of the Cathedral of Amalfi which was awesome. It houses the crypt of St Andrew. He was the apostle who evangelized Greece and was crucified in Patras. His bones were originally housed in Constantinople but were brought to Amalfi in 1208. Pieces on show date back past 1174. well worth the look. I have no photos of inside as you aren't allowed flashes and I don't know how to stop mine so the photos are from in the cloisters and outside. Some shopping for fruit and veg and souvenirs then back to the boat.
We had planned to head off to the Isle of Capri but the weather has turned foul with winds gusting to 20+knots, lightning and lumpy sea in the direction we want to go. So we'll sit out the expected blow this afternoon here at Amalfi.
