Le Grazie to Rapallo

18 August 2014
Le Grazie is one of many small bays around the harbour of Le Spezia which is home to the Naval base, a couple of marinas, oversea terminal and an oil port so it is busy. After a good nights sleep we went ashore and caught the bus into Le Spezia to find a chandlery and of course have a look around. It is Monday and because Friday was a holiday some of the businesses have made a long weekend of it...Much like the Aussies. Yes the chandler was closed. So after some serious shopping we had lunch (Italian cooked by an Asian), a couple of beers and found a bus to get us back to Le Grazie. Next morning we headed off going between the mainland and Isola Palmaria, past the town of Portovenere, a very colourful place with bright buildings with the exception of the churches which are grey and white stripe.
The day was fine and sunny with a hint of autumn. ...not sure we want that just yet. 6-8 knts SSW and not enough to sail only so we motor/sailed the whole way to Rapallo with storm clouds moving in as we anchored.
