Imperia to Menton France

29 August 2014
Leaving Imperia our last port of call in Italy, the wind didn't know where to come from so of course the motors had to be used. A slight swell and fine sunny conditions made the trip to Menton France a walk in the park. We anchored in the Plage D Carnoles just to the west of the Menton marina, in amongst the usual day boaties. Here though they go home to their marinas around 0700 much earlier than the Italians.
Next day we dinghied ashore and caught the train to Monaco. We had done the visit last trip but were keen for Glen and Liz to see the place. All the tourist spots were covered starting at the Rainier Palace and finishing at the Monte Carlo Casino. We think the Grand Prix has not long been on as the streets still have evidence of it around and T-shirts have all the racing themes over them.
We had several boats for company overnight and we could have been in a marina as the sea was flat. Up anchor this morning and away just after 0600 heading for Cannes. We have just had the drive by of Monaco and have found the BIG boat from Corfu ( Luna) anchored a little further west of there. The day is sunny, the sea is flat and there is now wind. So again the motors are chewing up the fuel. We expect to arrive around lunch. From there we are off to Ile d Cross just off the coast of Toulon and then an overnighter to Palamos in Spain.
