En route to the Canaries

Puerto Calero Isla de Lanzarote
Next day and Glen and Liz are again having trouble with their internet connections, so they checked out catching a bus into Arrecife the big town up the coast to see if they can get it sorted out. That left Gary and myself to do some chores around the boat, check out a sail maker,(they don’t work on weekends…come at 8am Monday), and treated ourselves to lunch out with a couple of really cold beers. I should let you know that Lanzarote was the first place in the world to use desalinated water. And without it they couldn’t exist. Having a turbulent history of pirate raids and volcanic eruptions makes an interesting destination. Extraordinary moonscapes, dramatic rock formations and kilometres of lava tunnels with cavernous theatres. The landscape is very barren and their last rain was back in April. So it is a very arid place as is the isla de Fuertoventura our next stop over on our way to Grand Canaria. Should be there on Monday evening after what will be a long trip.
