Enjoying the change of scenery
27 February 2015 | Robin Bay, Virgin Gorda BVI
Up anchor just before 1700 for an overnight sail to Virgin Gorda in the British Virgin Islands. Hardly any wind until we cleared the island of St Martin but then the pole went up and the motors off for a less than fast trip. The cruise liners leaving Philipsburg were all lit up like Christmas trees and one, "The Norwegian Getaway", advised on the radio they would be having fireworks off the stern at 2230, so don't report flares. I had my head down but Gary saw the colourful display. Now why didn't he wake me? There was quite a bit of traffic going both ways. Around 0530 next morning we had a rain squall, but it was over as quickly as it arrived. Land fall @ 0600 but the we had the sail and eventual motoring to an anchorage, just past Mosquito Island, owned by Sir Richard Branston that he rents to his friends for $47,000 per day. Oh! You can take 26 friends. It all happens here.
